JOHN A. O'REILLY FRIAI ARCHITECT
Burren House
The house sits at the base of Turlough Hill, overlooking the lush green valley of Oughtmama, in the Burren, Co. Clare.
The ruins of a "clachán" (an old settlement cluster) remain on part of the site.
The house adapts the tradition of the "Classic House" in the Irish countryside - a simple clean form with its internal rooms regulated by classical proportions.
The main living space occupies one large, high-ceilinged and light-filled space overlooking the valley below.
Bedrooms are overhead and a Studio adjacent.
The house sits in its commanding position with quiet dignity, as befits its occupants.
